France remains top destination for holidaymakers from Flanders

The number of people in Flanders going on holiday this year has increased significantly compared to 2023, according to a survey by mobility organisation VAB. France remains the top foreign destination.

The survey showed that, of more than 2,000 respondents, 74 per cent plan to travel in 2024, 10 per cent more than in 2023. Some 62 per cent said they will travel more than once, a sharp increase on last year's 42 per cent.

Only 7 per cent of respondents will definitely not go on holiday,, down from last year's 21 per cent, while 19 per cent were unsure.

The survey also showed that nine out of 10 will spend their holiday abroad. France remains the top destination, although according to the VAB it has lost popularity due to the Olympic Games. Spain and Italy are in second and third place, while Austria has become more popular.

As last year, the Belgian coast remains the most popular domestic destination, followed by the Ardennes.
