29 suspected drug dealers caught during two weekends of Tomorrowland festival

A total of 29 suspected drug dealers were caught on and around the Tomorrowland festival site in Boom, Antwerp province, during the two festival weekends, the Antwerp public prosecutor's office reports. The suspects will appear in court during a special hearing this autumn.

Those detained include Belgians, Dutch, British, Spanish, Colombians, a Ukrainian, a Latvian, a Serbian, a Swede, a Brazilian, a Canadian, a German and a Mexican. The special sessions at the Antwerp court will take place on 30 October and 16 December.

Besides those caught with dealer quantities of drugs, 466 people were also caught in possession of quantitities for personal consumption. They were offered an immediate out-of-court settlement, to a total of 124,050 euros. All drugs found were confiscated.

For the first time, the National Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology immediately tested the confiscated drugs on the site . A total of 880 samples were examined. MDMA, ketamine and cocaine were the most frequently detected substances.
