Men's 400m relay team secure third gold medal for Belgium
The Belgian Tornados, the men's 4x400m relay team, took gold at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow on Sunday evening.
Defending champions Belgium, with Jonathan Sacoor, Dylan Borlée, Christian Iguacel and Alexander Doom, raced past the US in a thrilling final lap to win the country's third gold of the championships by 0.06 seconds.
Doom, who ran the anchor leg, had already won gold in the individual 400m race on Saturday. The Netherlands finished third.
The women's team, the Belgian Cheetahs, finished fourth, behind the Netherlands, the US and the UK, breaking the national record in the process.
The indoor world championships in Glasgow proved to be a good warm-up for the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. The team secured three gold medals, with Doom's two adding to Noor Vidts' success in the pentathlon, and a bronze for Elliot Crestan in the 800m.
