Shooting in Brussels: two people wounded in Schaerbeek

Two people were injured in a shooting in the Brussels commune of Schaerbeek on Saturday night. One of them is in a critical condition, the Brussels police announced on Sunday morning.

The police were called to Place Lehon at around 00.30 after shots were heard. Emergency services found a wounded man. A few minutes later, a second victim in Rue de Potter was discovered. One of the two injured is in critical condition, police said. ​

It is too early to say anything about the circumstances of the shooting, police said. The public prosecutor's office was due to make a statement later on Sunday. There have been several shootings in Brussels recently, possibly linked to violence between drug gangs.
