Antwerp hosts special Fashion Week for Benelux and international retailers
Independent fashion retailers will show their collections at seven different locations in Antwerp this Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 August. They are coming to the third edition of Antwerp Fashion Week (AFW), an event that takes place every two years in the heart of the Belgian fashion capital.
In total, 129 fashion brands are going to take part of the show, both internationally known brands as well as emerging Belgian names. In addition to the presentation of all these brands, 16 of them will also show their latest Spring 2023 collection on the catwalk.
"I am very happy with all the new talent showing their collections for the first time during Antwerp Fashion Week and the participation of the largest fashion distributors in Antwerp, so that AFW continues to develop," says the AFW organiser, Dieter Deceuninck, to Belga News Agency.
Business to business (B2B)
After two tough years for the fashion sector due to Covid-19 pandemic, independent retailers are recovering their sales this ending summer season. Retailers of large and small stores from the Benelux were invited to visit the brand and fashion shows of this AFW edition.
"Two days full of fashion, making Antwerp Fashion Week the largest B2B fashion event in Belgium and a must visit for every Belgian retailer,” said Isolde Delanghe, director of Mode Unie. "It's a relief for our retailers who are finally getting some breathing space again. One good season will of course not straighten out the crisis, but it is a nice first step. Now it is up to our retailers to continue to serve their customers with their diversity, service and personal approach. Discovering great new brands is an important part of that. That is why AFW is so important," adds Delanghe.
Antwerp has always had a rich fashion history and the organization wants to emphasize that with the initiative. "Antwerp is still buzzing with fashion and we must continue to reinforce that. It is therefore the ideal place to bring all these fashion brands together and display them," considers Deceuninck.
