Antwerp miss chance to secure title after home draw with Union
League leaders Antwerp missed the opportunity to seal the title on Sunday after drawing at home to second-placed Union Saint-Gilloise, in the fifth round of the Championship play-offs in the Jupiler Pro League.
Antwerp appeared to be heading for a fifth league title, and their first since 1957, when Vincent Janssen scored after 14 minutes. But with 10 minutes to go before the final whistle, Union substitute Cameron Puertas equalised.
The two teams are now tied on 46 points in the league, with Antwerp ahead on goal difference. Genk are one point behind in third place. The final matches will be played on 4 June, with Antwerp travelling to Genk and Union at home to Club Brugge.
In Sunday's other match, Genk beat Club 3-1. The eventual champions will enter next season's UEFA Champions League at the third qualifying round stage.
