Ask the King: Belgians invited to question King Philippe for his 65th birthday

On the occasion of his 65th birthday, King Philippe of Belgium has opened a direct line to the public via a newly launched website, allowing citizens to ask him any question they wish.
The initiative, announced by his children on social media, invites people to upload a video or submit a written question via the platform. The King, known for his calm demeanour and thoughtful engagement, has promised to do his best to answer as many questions as possible.
This unique gesture underscores the King's evolving role as a modern monarch keen to forge a closer bond with Belgians. While Belgium remains a constitutional monarchy with limited political powers for its sovereign, King Philippe has steadily carved out a role as a unifier in a politically complex and linguistically divided nation.
The site is available in Dutch (https://vraaghetaandekoning.be/), French (https://leroirepond.be/) and German (https://fragenandenkoenig.be/), the three official languages of Belgium. Anyone wishing to submit a question must do so by 24 April.
