Belgian-made Baldur's Gate 3 takes home six prizes at The Game Awards
Baldur's Gate 3, a computer game created by Ghent company Larian, won six awards at The Game Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday night. Among them, the game was crowned Game of the Year.
The role-playing game, set in a medieval fantasy world, beat Super Mario Bros Wonder, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Alan Wake 2 to be named Best Computer Game of the Year.
It won the Best Community Support, Best Role-Playing Game and Best Multiplayer. British actor Neil Newbon's performance as Astarion won the Best Performance award and the game also took the Voice of the Player award.
Larian's expectations were high, especially after Baldur's Gate 3 was named Best Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards in November, where the public essentially chooses the winner. It won seven awards, a record for a Belgian game.
"Why Belgians have every right to be boldly ambitious," prime minister Alexander De Croo wrote on X.
"The team at Larian put their heart and soul into this game for six years, sometimes under very difficult circumstances," said Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios."
