Belgian composer Dirk Brossé nominated for Film Music Critics Awards
Belgian composer and conductor Dirk Brossé has been nominated for the prestigious International Film Music Critics Awards (IFMCA) with his music for the film 'Onze Natuur' ('Our Nature', ed.). He is up against, among others, Hans Zimmer for his music in 'Frozen Planet II'.
Ghent-born composer Brossé is nominated in the 'Best Original Score for a Documentary' category. Other nominees in that category, besides two-time Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, are Harry Gregson-Williams for 'Polar Bear', Alan Williams for 'Secrets of the Sea' and Matthijs Kieboom for 'Wolf'.
The International Film Music Critics Awards are presented annually, this year's editition being the nineteenth. There are 15 categories in all. The IFMCA are the only awards given to composers by film music journalists. They often crown not only the music of big Hollywood films, but also smaller productions. The winners will be announced on February 23rd via the IFMCA's YouTube channel.
