Belgian development agency's office in Gaza bombed and destroyed
The office building of Enabel, the Belgian development agency, in Gaza has been bombed and destroyed, reported Foreign minister Hadja Lahbib on Twitter. "Attacking civilian buildings is unacceptable," she wrote on Thursday night.
There is currently no detailed information about the attack, but it possibly took place on Wednesday. Whether there were any civilian casualties is also still unclear.
The government decided last month to evacuate Enabel's 19 local employees and their immediate families. "They are people who have worked day in and day out for our international solidarity," Development Cooperation minister Caroline Gennez said at the time.
Lahbib says she and Gennez have summoned the Israeli ambassador "to get to the bottom of the matter".
