Belgian movie "Close" wins two prizes at the Seville film festival
The film "Close" by Belgian director Lukas Dhont has won two awards at the film festival in the Spanish city of Seville, which aims to promote and disseminate European films and talent. The Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) announced it this Saturday, 12 November.
Dhont's second feature film, after "Girl", received the International Jury Prize and the Best Actor Award (Eden Dambrine) in Seville.
Like "Girl" in 2018, "Close" had its world premiere at the Cannes Festival this year, where it received the Grand Prix of the Jury. Since then, the film has already won a series of awards at all kinds of festivals.
Close is also the Belgian Oscar submission. Earlier this week, the film was nominated for four European Film Awards, in the categories Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Acting Performance (again for Eden Dambrine) and Best Screenplay.
"Close" has been in movie theaters since early November.
