Belgium announces selection for European Athletics Championships
Belgian Athletics on Thursday announced its selection for the European Athletics Championships, which will take place from 7 to 12 June. A total of 59 athletes will travel to Rome to represent Belgium.
Belgium will travel to the European Athletics Championships in Rome with 59 athletes, including the relay teams. Of those, 42 are individual athletes. This makes it one of the largest Belgian delegations ever.
Notable in the selection is that Cynthia Bolingo will not participate in the individual 400 metres. She is, however, entered for the Mixed Relay and the female 4x400 metres with the Belgian Cheetahs. The other Cheetahs are Camille Laus, Helena Ponette, Imke Vervaet, Liefde Schoemaker and Naomi Van Den Broeck.
For the Belgian Tornados, brothers Kevin and Jonathan Borlée are absent. They want to focus on the Olympics. Those who do participate are Alexander Doom, Dylan Borlée, Jonathan Sacoor, Christian Iguacel, Robin Vanderbemden, Daniël Segers and Florent Mabille.
