Biles leads US to gold at Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp
The US were crowned world gymnastics champions in Antwerp on Wednesday, with Simone Biles, Skye Blakely, Shilese Jones, Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong collecting 167.729 points.
Olympic silver medallist and outgoing world champion Rebeca Andrade led Brazil (165.530 points) to silver, while France (164.064) took bronze.
It is the seventh consecutive world title for the US team, and four-time Olympic champion Biles has now won 20 world titles. In Antwerp, where she won her first world titles in 2013, she made her international comeback after retiring from gymnastics after the Tokyo Olympics to work on her mental health.
Already the most decorated gymnast in history, Biles can add to her record this week. She will be the overwhelming favourite in the all-around final on Friday, with Andrade as her main rival, and she qualified for the four apparatus finals, three of them - floor, vault and beam - with the highest score.
