Brick Mania: Antwerp Expo welcomes largest Lego fair in Belgium
Brick Mania Antwerp, the largest Lego fair in Belgium, takes place this weekend in Antwerp Expo. From November 19 to 20, more than 4,000 square meters of Lego creations can be admired.
This is the ninth edition and it has attracted an average of 8,000 visitors in the past. The event is organized by BeLUG, a collective of passionate LEGO fans of all ages.
There are many creations exposed at the fair, ranging from mosaics and dioramas to 3D busts of famous figures.
Lego fans
In 2022, the Lego Group will be one of the largest toy companies in the world, with countless fans. In Antwerp, too, many people are regularly busy with the famous blocks.
In 1932, Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen started making wooden toys. He named his company Lego (a contraction of the Danish words for "play" and "good") and came up with the iconic plastic building blocks after the Second World War. More than 400 billion of these have been sold so far, or about 90 units for every inhabitant in the world.
