Brussels Airlines invites public to design its next customised aircraft
Brussels Airlines has launched a competition to find a new design for its next customised aircraft. Designs can be submitted until 27 September.
The company is inviting anyone aged 16 or over who lives in Belgium or has Belgian nationality to design its new "Belgian icon". Designs must represent Belgium originally and artistically and can be submitted on the airline’s website.
A jury will select the best ones, after which a poll will be held to decide the final version. The aircraft with the selected design will join the fleet of personalised aircraft in 2025.
Three Belgian icons are currently part of the Brussels Airlines fleet: Rackham, a tribute to the comic strip hero Tintin, mare’, inaugurated this year and produced with the Tomorrowland electronic music festival, and Trident, the official aircraft of the Red Devils and Red Flames, the national football teams.
The airline previously also had a Magritte and a Bruegel aircraft, in tribute to the artists. A previous design competition resulted in Aerosmurf, named after the Smurfs comic franchise.
Designs can be submitted on the website.
