Brussels Airport to offer up to four flights a day to China
Brussels Airport will offer direct flights to the Chinese city of Shanghai this summer. Two Chinese airlines announced the connection on Friday and Brussels Airport confirmed the news. From July, there will be up to four direct flights a day from Belgium to China.
Hainan Airlines will fly four times a week, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, in both directions from 18 June. The airline flew between the two cities before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hainan already has daily flights to and from Beijing and three flights a week to and from Shenzhen from Zaventem. With the relaunch of the Shanghai route, Hainan Airlines will fly twice a day from Brussels to China, the airline said on Facebook.
Chinese debut
A second Chinese airline, Juneyao Air, is making its debut in Brussels. From 1 July, it will fly between Shanghai and Brussels three times a week, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays. There will be three direct flights in each direction per day.
The news comes a week after the Chinese government announced that Belgians travelling to China for up to two weeks will no longer need a visa. Travelling to the country has become much easier since the government lifted most of the Covid-19 restrictions last November.
