Brussels Airport prepares for busiest day since start of Covid-19 pandemic

Brussels Airport is expecting around 88,000 passengers on Friday. This will make it not only the busiest day of the year, but also the busiest day since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the airport said on Thursday.

On Friday, 45,000 departing and 43,000 arriving passengers are expected, the highest number in years. The busiest days in 2023 were 28 and 31 July with 82,000 passengers.

In the whole of July and August, more than 5 million passengers are expected to travel via Brussels Airport to one of the 200 direct destinations, according to the airport.

Faster border control

Brussels Airport recommends passengers arrive at the airport on time. To ensure a smooth security check, they should check the rules for hand luggage, including liquids, on the website or in the app in advance. Passengers can also find all the information about their itinerary on the app.

The airport has been experiencing long queues at border control for some time. For passengers with European passports travelling outside the Schengen zone, 15 additional e-gates have been installed. These are automatic border control gates that ensure a smoother flow and reduce waiting times.
