Brussels Jazz Festival to mark 10th anniversary with special edition
The Brussels Jazz Festival is set to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a milestone edition in January. Organisers announced the line-up on Tuesday, promising a rich programme that highlights international legends and emerging talents.
American saxophonist David Murray will kick off the festival on 9 January, before Belgian jazz talent takes the spotlight, featuring Simon Comté and Bram De Looze. French singer and bassist Amy Gadiaga, known for her 2024 album released under London’s Jazz re:freshed label, will also perform.
Also on the programme is Johan Grimonprez’s film Soundtrack to a Coup d'État, exploring the stories of two jazz musicians in the aftermath of the assassination of Patrice Lumumba. The Toots Thielemans Jazz Award will be presented to YuTing Li, this year’s most promising jazz student from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Li will also perform as part of the festivities.

London-based saxophonist Camilla George will share the stage with the Immanuel Wilkins Quartet, while the closing day performances will showcase drummer Jas Kayser, known for her work with Lenny Kravitz, and bassist Daniel Casimir. A double DJ set will follow to close out the 10-day festival.
“With this anniversary edition, we are not only celebrating 10 years of the Brussels Jazz Festival but also the ongoing evolution of jazz in all its forms,” said festival programmer Maarten Van Rousselt. “It is our mission to offer a platform to both established names and emerging talent, and this year we have put together a special programme that shows the bandwidth and diversity of jazz music.”
