DEME wins contract for offshore wind farm in Taiwan
Belgian dredging company DEME has won a contract to install foundations and an offshore substation for a wind farm in Taiwan. The company announced this in a press release on Monday.
DEME won the contract through its Taiwanese joint venture CDWE, which also includes Taiwanese shipbuilder CSBC. The contract is worth between 150 and 300 million euros, which the company describes as "substantial".
Work is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026. The Fengmiao 1 wind farm, developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, will be located 35 kilometres off the coast of Taichung and will provide 500 MW of renewable energy to Taiwanese companies.
DEME is one of the world's leading contractors in offshore energy, environmental remediation, dredging and marine infrastructure. In 2023, it had a turnover of more than 3.2 billion euros.
