DPG Media secures 120m euro EIB loan for digital expansion

DPG Media has secured a 120 million euro loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to accelerate its digital transformation. This follows a 100 million euro loan granted in 2022.
The Antwerp-based media group, which owns broadcaster VTM, newspapers Het Laatste Nieuws and De Morgen, radio station Qmusic and streaming platform Streamz, plans to invest 392 million euros between 2024 and 2026. 30 per cent will be funded by the EIB. The investment will focus on artificial intelligence, content distribution and enhanced digital platforms for users and advertisers.
EIB vice-president Robert de Groot highlighted the importance of digital innovation for European competitiveness, saying that DPG’s plans align with EU goals. For DPG Media CEO Erik Roddenhof, the loan is “necessary to maintain independent and strong media in an increasingly globalised market”.
Improved cybersecurity
DPG has already made significant strides in digital advertising and has made investments in audio technology, magazine digitalisation and enhanced smart TV streaming services. The company has also strengthened cybersecurity to protect against emerging threats.
DPG Media, active in Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark, reaches 15 million users daily through its 90 media brands.
