Entrepreneur Guido Dumarey no longer a candidate to take over Van Hool
Belgian Entrepreneur Guido Dumarey will not take over the ailing Van Hool mobility company. This was announced by Oliver Nass, spokesman for the Dumarey Group, on Friday afternoon. This leaves VDL-Schmitz Cargobull alone in the dominant position to acquire the company.
The trade unions are not surprised by Dumarey's withdrawal. Dumarey had made it clear that the 200 million euro price tag was too high, especially given the soil contamination around the Van Hool site.
Earlier, the union front had indicated that it did not want a scenario in which "a buyer is only interested in the technology, brand and customer portfolio in order to integrate it into its own production sites". The unions are referring to the Dutch-German tandem VDL-Schmitz Cargobull, which is interested in buses and trailers, respectively.
On Monday, the bankruptcy petition could be filed and the final buyer announced.
