Exhibition on Art Nouveau and Victor Horta's architectural language at Bozar
From 18 October to 14 January 2024, the exhibition Victor Horta and the Grammar of Art Nouveau will be displayed at Bozar in Brussels in collaboration with the Horta Museum. This event falls on the year of Art Nouveau 2023. The exhibition takes a closer look at the architectural approach of Belgian architect Victor Horta (1861-1947).
Through archive documents, photographs, plans and original sketches and models, the public will get a picture of the foundations of Victor Horta's architectural language.
Several of Horta's designs will be featured, including Tassel House, the Waucquez department store and the Palais des Beaux-Arts Bozar itself. "The Palace of Fine Arts in the centre of Brussels may count as one of the highlights of Horta's career and is, therefore, a choice venue that shines a light on the oeuvre of one of Belgium's most influential architects," Bozar said in a press release.

Throughout nine rooms, the grammar and story of Horta's Art Nouveau will be imparted, with attention to the broader era and historical context. Contemporary works will also be shown, providing a current look at Horta's work.
The exhibition was curated by Benjamin Zurstrassen, the curator of the Horta Museum, and Iwan Strauven, professor of architectural theory at Universitè libre de Bruxelles.
