'Extraordinary sensory experience': Museum hosts naturist tour of Delvaux exhibition
A museum in Liège is organising a naturist tour of an exhibition dedicated to Belgian artist Paul Delvaux. The event at La Boverie is intended as a tribute to the work of Delvaux, known for his depictions of naked women in surrealist settings.
The retrospective The Worlds of Paul Delvaux opened in October with an exhibition of 150 works and runs until 16 March. Visitors are being offered a new perspective of the art on 28 February, with an evening naturist visit organised with the Belgian Naturist Federation and the association Eve et Adam simplement nus.
The intention is to create an intimate and authentic connection with the painter’s artistic world, a museum spokesperson said.
'Respectful and inclusive'
“In a respectful and inclusive setting, participants can discover Delvaux’s emblematic paintings while themselves being in harmony with the central theme of the exhibition: nudity,” they said.
“This unusual initiative proposes to transcend the barriers between the viewer and the art, offering an extraordinary sensory and emotional experience.”
The tour is for adults only and reservations are essential.
Inspired by surrealism and the great classical masters, Delvaux (1897-1994) was known for his enigmatic scenes populated by nude women, evocative landscapes and architectural elements.
