Flanders promotes Northern Strategy in Lithuania
Flemish minister-president Jan Jambon is in Lithuania to promote the Northern Strategy. Under the Northern Strategy, the Flemish Government wants to strengthen the ties between Flanders and the Northern European Member States.
Earlier, Flanders announced that, within the framework of the so-called Northern Strategy, it wants to seek diplomatic, economic and cultural links with the Baltic States. Initially, it was Jan Jambon's intention to visit Estonia and Latvia as well as Lithuania, but that part was eventually scrapped due to agenda difficulties.
The intention is to bring together various interesting economic players from both Lithuania and Flanders. With his visit, Jambon hopes to put Flanders further on the map as an investment destination for Life Sciences and to stimulate various collaborations.
One of the stops of the Flemish deligation will be infrared light technology company Brolis Semiconductors. The company opened an office for research and development in Ghent in 2017 and is brooding on expanding its activities in Flanders.
