Flanders secures Europe's largest Microsoft Copilot contract to improve government efficiency
Flemish minister-president Matthias Diependaele (N-VA) has signed Europe's largest government contract for Microsoft's Copilot AI platform during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Up to 10,000 employees of the Flemish government and local administrations will soon have access to the AI assistant.
The Flemish government is set to sign a four-year deal with the US technology giant for 10,000 licences. Microsoft says it's the largest Copilot deal to date for a public administration in Europe. A detailed agreement has already been reached and is awaiting formal approval by the government. The value of the contract was not disclosed.
The rollout will explore how AI can improve the delivery of public services, with applications tailored to each department. According to Diependaele's office, Copilot is expected to automate various processes, enabling faster and more efficient case handling at regional and local levels.
