Flanders to pay 1,000 euros for nursing bachelor students who graduates this year

This academic year, Flanders will again be awarding 1,000 euros to every nursing bachelor's student who finishes the graduation. According to the Flemish Minister of Welfare, Hilde Crevits, it concerns an expense allowance for the contract internship in the last year of the training.

"We want to send a clear signal to graduate students: their care is invaluable. The corona crisis has made that clear more than ever. Moreover, given the current staff shortage, we have every interest in making the training as attractive as possible," says Minister Crevits to the newspaper De Zondag.

It is not a new measure: last academic year the compensation was paid to 1,389 students. This academic year, 800 to 1,250 undergraduate students are expected to graduate. The payment of the compensation is automatic.
