Flow: Award-winning animated film premieres in Belgium
The animated film Flow will premiere in Belgian cinemas on Wednesday. This co-production between Latvia, France and Belgium has won widespread recognition from critics as well as the prestigious Golden Globe for Best Animated Film.
Flow tells the story of a cat who wakes up in a world under water, where all human life seems to have disappeared. Forced to live on a small boat with a group of other animals, the cat faces a challenge far greater than his fear of water - learning to coexist with others.
The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May as part of the official Un Certain Regard competition, a rare achievement for an animated film. Since then, Flow has continued to receive widespread praise. It also triumphed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, taking home four awards including the Audience Award, the Jury Award and Best Music.
Adding to its accolades, Flow is one of the frontrunners for this year's Oscars. It has been submitted by Latvia as its entry for Best International Feature Film and is also a contender for Best Animated Feature Film. The winners will be announced on 3 March.
