Gentse Feesten drew more than 1.7 million visitors
Gentse Feesten (Ghent Festivities) brought a total of 1,710,000 visitors to the city this year, a good 85,000 more than last year. A successful edition, yet not the busiest one ever.
Some 140,000 people visited Gentse Feesten on Sunday, the last day of the ten-day cultural festival. In total, the event counted 1,710,000 revellers, 85,000 more than last year. About half of them were citizens of Ghent.
With 1.7 million visitors, this edition was successful, but not the busiest ever. That was in 2005, when 1.8 million people came to the festivities. Festival Alderman Bram Van Braeckevelt said in a reaction he was happy with this year’s festival: “The number of visitors doesn't interest me that much. It's the combination of quality and quantity. And I'm also happy that more and more people from Ghent are coming to the Festivities. That's how we maintain the Ghent character.”
Next year, the free festival will take place from Friday 18 to Sunday 27 July 2025.
