Hallerbos prepares for Bluebell Festival

From mid-April, the forest floor of Hallerbos will once again be covered with a thick carpet of bluebells. The city of Halle is preparing to welcome the thousands of visitors that this phenomenon attracts every year.
Every year, the violet-blue flowers create a stunning, almost magical scene in the forest near Brussels. The spectacle attracts thousands of nature lovers from Belgium and abroad.
The city of Halle and the Flemish Agency for Nature and Forests have joined forces to manage the crowds. The organisers are encouraging people to come to the forest on foot, by bike or by public transport.
On peak days, free shuttle buses will run between Halle station and the forest. Visitors can also pick up a free bicycle at Halle station.
Carpets of bluebells can also be seen in about 10 other forests in East and West Flanders at the end of April, according to the Flemish Agency for Nature and Forests. These include the Helleketelbos in Poperinge, the Kluisbos in Kluisbergen and the Muziekbos in Ronse.
