Hezbollah claims to have fired missile at Mossad HQ
The Lebanese Islamist movement Hezbollah has claimed to have fired a ballistic missile at the headquarters of Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence service, near Tel Aviv.
“The Islamic Resistance launched a Qader 1 ballistic missile at 6.30am on Wednesday (...) targeting the Mossad headquarters on the outskirts of Tel Aviv,” Hezbollah said in a statement. No injuries or damage have been reported.
The group said Mossad was responsible for the assassination of some of its leaders and for the recent series of explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies.
The Israeli army said it had intercepted the missile. “Following the sirens that sounded in the Tel Aviv and Netanya areas, a surface-to-surface missile was identified as coming from Lebanon and was intercepted by the air defence,” a military spokesperson said.

This is the first time since the outbreak of violence between Israel and Hezbollah, following the start of the war in Gaza on 7 October 2023, that the Iranian-backed group has announced the launch of a ballistic missile at Israel.
Since Monday, intense Israeli strikes have targeted the group's strongholds in southern and eastern Lebanon and in the southern suburbs of Beirut, killing at least 558 people.
These attacks came after several heavy blows to Hezbollah last week: deadly explosions hit the movement’s communications equipment and an Israeli strike killed 55 people, including the leader of the elite al-Radwan force.
On Tuesday evening, another Hezbollah military leader was killed in an Israeli strike on the southern outskirts of Beirut.
