Belgian Ingmar De Vos elected president of Olympic organisation ASOIF
Belgian Ingmar De Vos has been elected as the new president of ASOIF, the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations. ASOIF unites the sports federations participating in the Olympics and defends the interests of Olympic sports at the International Olympic Committee.
Prior to Tuesday, the 60-year-old from Antwerp was a member of the ASOIF Council. He has now been elected president of ASOIF for a four-year term. He was the only candidate to succeed Italian Francesco Ricci Bitti from the International Tennis Federation.
De Vos began his career in 1980 at the Belgian Equestrian Federation, where he became secretary general in 1997, and has been president of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports since 2014. He became a member of the IOC in 2017.
ASOIF is a Swiss non-profit organisation that unites, promotes and supports more than 30 international federations of sports at the summer Olympics. It is based in Lausanne, the same city as the headquarters of the IOC.
