International Photobiennial Ostend exhibits work of more than thirty photographers
On 16 September, the second edition of the International Photobiennal will open in Ostend. The works of more than thirty national and international photographers will be exhibited at various locations in the city. At the heart of the Photobiennale is the connection with other art forms.
This fall, curator Stephane Verheye is giving a group of art photographers a stage at the second edition of the International Photo Biennial. Among them is the American Joel-Peter Witkin, whose work will be displayed at Fort Napoleon. Visual works by the Belgian couple Tony Le Duc and Diane Hendrikx will also be on display.
Belgian Marie Wynants shows at the James Ensor House in Ostend, along with young photographer Athos Burez. In Leopold Park, visitors can see photographs by Mous Lamrabat. The work of Austrian artist Aglaia Konrad will be on display at Mu.ZEE.

Artists such as Jenny Boot, Julia Fullerton-Batten, Luca Izzo, Stefano Bonazzi, Jenny Ymker and Soo Burnell are also represented. "Expect a journey through surrealism, realism, chiaroscuro, cartoon, installation art, colour, still life, detail and, above all, room for personal interpretation," say the organizers.
From 16 September to 12 November, visitors can view the works in various indoor and outdoor locations. In addition, six galleries will open their doors to showcase the photographers' work. Admission to the outdoor sites and galleries is free, while tickets can be reserved for the indoor locations.
