Israeli security cabinet approves Gaza ceasefire
Israel's security cabinet on Friday gave the green light to the ceasefire agreement with Hamas in Gaza. The cabinet agreed to an exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
"After examining all political, security and humanitarian aspects, and understanding that the proposed deal supports achieving the war objectives," the security cabinet recommended that the government approve the ceasefire deal, a statement from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said.
The agreement must now be approved by the full government, which is expected to meet later on Friday

Hostages and prisoner swap
The various parties involved in the peace negotiations announced on Wednesday that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas. As well as the release of hostages and a prisoner swap, the deal includes a ceasefire in Gaza.
The first phase of the ceasefire will last for six weeks
The agreement is the result of months of negotiations. The first phase of the ceasefire will last for six weeks. During this period, negotiations will take place for the second phase, which aims to bring the war to a permanent end. The third and final phase will focus on the reconstruction of the Palestinian territory.
