Leasing company adds drones to its product range

ALD Automotive | LeasePlan now offers drones in addition to cars and bicycles. Several police zones were the first to lease drones for surveillance. The company now wants to develop this into a full service, it announced on Thursday.

As an innovation initiative, the project responds to the rapidly evolving drone market, where new, lighter models appear every two to three years. ALD Automotive | LeasePlan offers a 36-month lease period, ensuring that businesses have access to the latest technology without a large upfront investment.

"Buying a drone is a significant investment, especially for smaller companies. Leasing provides an accessible alternative," says Ann Larosse, Innovation and CSR Manager.

Increased use

According to the company, this is the first drone leasing service in Belgium. Drones are increasingly being used in a range of industries, from infrastructure inspection and security to precision agriculture. The leasing package includes maintenance and repairs, similar to car and bicycle leasing.

The drones on offer come in a variety of models, either manually operated or autonomous, with features such as cameras, detection systems and speakers. At the end of the lease, businesses can purchase the drone for 10% or 16% of its value, depending on the plan chosen.
