Liège Airport invests 500m euros in development
Liège Airport's board of directors on Friday approved the update to its master plan for the 2023-2040 period, including 500 million euros in investments, Sudinfo and L'Echo reported on Monday. The objective is to double the number of flights and jobs.
The strategic plan aims to transform the airport into a multimodal hub connected by rail, water and air. The 500 million euros will be invested in several phases and will mainly be used to add 15 parking spaces for widebody aircraft at the edge of the runway.
The first project is the construction of three unloading warehouses of 12,500 square metres each, which the airport will rent out. It also plans to build a maintenance hangar for large aircraft, such as the B747-400, which will accommodate two aircraft.
The investment will come from revenue from operations - such as landing fees and site rental - and bank loans. "We will be completely self-financing," managing director Laurent Jossart told Sudinfo.
