Lotte Kopecky takes Belgian road cycling title for fourth time

Lotte Kopecky was crowned Belgian road cycling champion for the fourth time on Sunday. Sanne Cant came second, followed by Justine Ghekiere.

World champion Kopecky was the favourite before the race and made a first breakaway about 50km from the finish. A chasing group caught up briefly but at 34km from the finish, Kopecky broke away once more. She eventually soloed to the finish.

This is Kopecky’s fourth Belgian road cycling title in the elite category, after earlier wins in 2020, 2021 and 2023. On Thursday, she also won her sixth consecutive national time trial title in Binche.
