Man critically injured after intruder attacks care home residents
Two residents at a nursing home in Tienen, Flemish Brabant, were attacked by an intruder in the early hours of Friday morning. The victims, a 94-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman, were taken to hospital. The man’s injuries are said to be life-threatening.
The suspect, a 37-year-old man, was arrested. It isn’t yet clear how he entered the Nazareth care home or his motive for doing so. Forensic services attended the scene and the suspect will be questioned at a later date.
“It was someone who came from outside and forced his way into the home,” spokesperson An Haeckens told Belga. “The police were here almost immediately and were able to overpower the man and took him away.”
