Memorial Van Damme: Femke Bol triumphs with meeting record in 400m hurdles
Femke Bol won the 400m hurdles at the Memorial Van Damme on Friday. The reigning world champion from the Netherlands set a new meeting record of 52.11 at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels.
As expected, Bol broke Nezha Bidouane's 25-year-old meeting record of 53.43. She is unbeaten in the 400m in the Diamond League since August 2020.
Friday's victory was Bol's 18th in a row. She set a European record of 51.45 seconds in London in July and won gold at the World Championships in Budapest in 51.70, where she also led the Dutch women's team to a remarkable gold in the 4x400m relay.
Jamaica shared second and third place with Janieve Russell and Rushell Clayton. US world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was absent for the duel with Bol. The reigning Olympic champion is battling a knee injury.
