Missing French baby Santiago found alive with parents in Amsterdam
The newborn baby who was kidnapped by his parents in France on Monday evening has been found alive with his parents in Amsterdam, Dutch police and the public prosecutor's office in Mons have confirmed. Their car was found earlier in Charleroi.
Santiago was 17 days old when his parents, aged 23 and 25, took him from the maternity ward of the Robert Ballanger hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois near Paris on Monday evening. He was born eight weeks prematurely and needed constant medical care.
It soon became clear that the parents had crossed the border into Belgium with the child. The Belgian police and Child Focus launched a Child Alert, an exceptional search notice for children in serious danger. A European arrest warrant for the parents followed on Friday morning.
The public prosecutor of Mons confirmed on Friday evening that Santiago was found alive in a hotel in Amsterdam.
