More Ryanair strikes in Belgium and France on July 23 and 24
Ryanair pilots in Belgium and France will once again hold a strike on July 23 and 24, Didier Lebbe of the Belgian Christian trade union CNE confirmed on Monday. The pilots feel "disrespected" and are still waiting for a salary increase, according to the trade unionist.
The reason for the action is the same as for the Ryanair strike at the end of June. "The pilots accepted to give up 20 percent of their salary during the crisis, but now they want to recover that pay. The crisis is over, it is busier than before," said Lebbe.
According to the trade unionist, the situation within the Irish airline has worsened. "The management is always taking an arrogant and disdainful attitude. The indexation that was supposed to be applied in June did not happen, and that is just one of many examples," Lebbe stated.
The union also regrets the CEO's statements in the Irish press on Monday. In an interview, Michael O'Leary said that only 25 flights were cancelled at the beginning of the summer, while there were several hundred according to Lebbe.
