Heptathlete Nafi Thiam will not compete at Götzis Hypomeeting

Belgian heptathlete Nafi Thiam will not be competing at this year's Hypomeeting in Götzis, one of the most prestigious international multi-event competitions. Her management announced the decision on Thursday. The event takes place in Austria from 31 May to 1 June.

"At the moment we cannot give an update on Nafi's competition schedule for this summer," manager Helena Van der Plaetsen said. "However, we can confirm that she will not be competing in Götzis this year. The timing of the Hypomeeting does not fit in with her schedule and her preparations for the World Championships in Tokyo."

The World Championships will be held in the Japanese capital from 13-21 September.

The World Indoor Championships take place this weekend in Nanjing, China. Her sole focus this year is to win another World Outdoor title.
