New guide helps cyclists discover most beautiful villages in Wallonia
The association ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie’ (‘The Most Beautiful Villages of Wallonia’) has presented a new publication designed to help cyclists discover its network of 33 traditional villages. The cycling guide offers 12 cycling routes of a few dozen kilometres across the various Walloon provinces, linking villages in the network.
The association ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de Wallonie’ was founded in 1994 to promote the identity of the rural regions of Wallonia and their natural and architectural heritage. To mark its 30th anniversary, the association created the new cycling guide. It presents 12 routes, divided into stages of about 30 km, passing through the 33 villages in the association’s network. These are linked by marker points and the large-scale RAVeL network in Wallonia.
Various points of interest are also indicated on the maps for discovering the local heritage or enjoying the hotel and restaurant scene. Exceptional viewpoints, tourist information points, nearby stations and bike hire or repair facilities are also indicated for each stage.
The cycling guide, with explanations in French and Dutch, is available to buy online from the beauxvillages.be website, as well as in the association's partner tourist offices. The routes and GPS tracks can also be found on the beauxvillages.be website.
