No results in new search for missing Belgian tourist in Tasmania
A new search by Australian police for Céline Cremer, the Belgian woman missing on the island of Tasmania, has yielded no results, the Tasmanian Constabulary said in a statement.
Police conducted a water search at Philosopher Falls near Waratah in Tasmania's northwest on Tuesday. No trace of the woman was found, Police Inspector Anthea Maingay said: "Unfortunately, today's search has not provided any further answers as to Céline's whereabouts."
Cremer was last seen on 17 June in Waratah, about 10 km from the Philosopher Falls walk.
Her car had been parked in the car park at the start of the walk since at least 20 June. "Our information is that she may have been in the area earlier. We ask anyone who was in the Philosopher Falls area on 17 and 18 June to contact us," the police said.
Last week, experts said the weather conditions were so bad that there was little chance of her surviving in the wilderness.
