Red Flames captain Wullaert signs for Inter Milan
Tessa Wullaert, the captain of Belgium’s women’s football team the Red Flames, is joining Inter Milan, Het Nieuwsblad and Het Laatste Nieuws report.
“It’s the best contract of my career,” said the four-time Golden Boot winner and the Red Flames' all-time top scorer. Inter Milan’s women’s team was established in 2018 and finished fifth last season. Wullaert, 31, hopes they will soon be playing in the Champions League.
The striker has been at Dutch club Fortuna Sittard since 2022 and was top scorer in the Women’s Eredivisie last season with 26 goals. Her team finished fourth and reached the KNVB Women’s Cup final, where they lost to Ajax.
This will be her fourth spell abroad, having also played for German side Wolfsburg and Manchester City in the Premier League. In Belgium, she played for Zulte Waregem, Standard Liège and Anderlecht.
