Russia responds: Trump-Zelensky dispute shows how difficult it will be to reach agreement

Russia has issued its first official response to the dispute between US president Donald Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, saying it highlights the challenges of reaching an agreement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the remarks on Monday, VRT NWS reported.
According to Peskov, the disagreement shows that Zelensky does not want peace through negotiations. He also claimed that Ukraine refuses to accept the reality on the ground by insisting on keeping all its territory. As for the argument at the White House, Peskov criticised Zelensky, saying that he showed a complete lack of diplomatic skills.
Indifference to special summit
The Kremlin also expressed indifference to the special summit in London over the weekend. Peskov dismissed the statements made during the event about continued military support for Ukraine, arguing that they were not aimed at a peaceful solution.
Peskov added that any constructive proposal is welcome, but insisted that someone must force Zelensky to change his stance and seek peace. He also claimed that the fragmentation of the West was underway, claiming that some parts of it want the war to continue.
