Shooting in Antwerp flat leaves three injured

Three people were seriously injured in the shooting in a flat in the heart of Antwerp on Wednesday, according to local police. Two of them are in critical condition. A fourth person involved was arrested unharmed.

The shooting took place in an apartment. One or more of the injured were later found in a nearby car park. The circumstances of the incident are still being investigated and the cause is not yet known. The forensic laboratory is at the scene to carry out forensic tests.

"I heard 3 or 4 shots," says Mohsen, an operator of the restaurant below the flat, to VRT NWS. "Someone walked in here asking if I could call the ambulance. The police were there within the minute."

The police stressed that it was not yet known who the perpetrator and the victims were. "All four people involved, as far as we know, have been arrested," said spokesman Wouter Bruyns. "Three of them suffered serious injuries. Who fired a gun and whether there were several guns is part of the investigation".
