Touring launches sales platform for used and stock cars
Mobility organisation Touring has launched the online sales platform Touring CarSelect for young used cars and stock cars, in collaboration with insurer AG Insurance and bank BNP Paribas Fortis. Only authorised car dealers will be able to offer their cars on it.
The second-hand market for cars is in Belgium bigger than that of new cars. About 60% of the cars registered in Belgium every year are second-hand: last year 693,000 used cars were registered, compared to 481,000 new ones. Most people first have a look online before buying a car.
It’s on the basis of that knowledge that Touring, together with AG Insurance and BNP Paribas Fortis, created the online sales platform Touring CarSelect for young used cars and stock cars. Stock cars are new cars that have already been built and are ‘in stock’.
Walter Torfs, CEO of Touring CarSelect, explained that they want to “provide quality” amid a “proliferation of websites and platforms”. Therefore, only authorised car dealers will be able to offer their cars there. These have to sign a quality charter and submit to regular checks by Touring. Also, only stock cars or used cars that are no more than five years old and have covered no more than 150,000 kilometres are eligible to be offered on Touring CarSelect.
In addition to roadside assistance with Touring, people can on the platform also simulate the cost of insurance with AG Insurance and financing schemes with BNP Paribas Fortis. However, the customer - who will also have to physically visit the relevant dealer to finalise the sale – does have a free choice.
