Two companies sign for innovation hub in Port of Antwerp
Power to Hydrogen and TripleW have signed a licence to establish themselves in the innovation hub in the port of Antwerp-Bruges (NextGen Demo). Both companies will test projects that focus on energy transition and circularity there.
"The demo projects will make an important contribution to the transition to a climate-neutral society," the port authority said on Friday. Within the "NextGen District", start-ups and scale-ups can test new technologies on a larger scale and in an industrial environment.
Power to Hydrogen specialises in electrolysis and aims to use its technology to reduce the cost of green hydrogen production. "The technology has never been used on an industrial scale before, and the electrolysis plant, which will be installed in the fourth quarter of 2024, is the largest in the world," the company says.
TripleW is a foreign investor that has developed an industrial process to produce lactic acid from food waste. The high-quality lactic acid is used as a raw material for biodegradable plastics and biochemicals. The aim is to reduce the mountain of waste. The project is also scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2024.
