UK exit poll projects landslide victory for Labour with 410 seats
Britain’s Labour Party is the projected winner of the UK elections with 410 seats in Parliament, according to an exit poll conducted by the BBC, ITV and Sky News.
In a landslide victory, Labour is expected to unseat the Conservatives for the first time in 14 years, ending prime minister Rishi Sunak's term.
The projected numbers project 410 seats for Labour, 131 for the Conservatives, 61 for the Liberal Democrats, 13 for Reform UK, 10 for the Scottish National Party and two for the Green party. If the poll proves accurate, Labour would have a majority of 170 seats in the 650-seat Parliament.
Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour party, is projected to be the next prime minister of the UK. He has promised a fiscally prudent, centre-left government "in service of working people".
The exit poll has accurately predicted the winner of the last five British general elections. The final results are expected on Friday morning.
