Van der Poel wins 106th edition of Tour of Flanders
Mathieu van der Poel is the new Tour of Flanders champion after an exciting 106th edition of the cycling classic. The Dutchman won the Tour for the second time in his career after a close sprint at the finish line.
Half an hour later, Belgian champion Lotte Kopecky won the Women's Tour of Flanders.
Despite the cold weather, many fans gathered beside the route to cheer on the riders. The organisers were able to welcome spectators for the first time since 2019.
In total the riders rode 272,5 km, from Antwerp to Oudenaarde. Next year’s Tour of Flanders will depart in Bruges.
